Ghana’s famous artist Prof Atukwei Okai has passed on.
The Secretary-General of the Pan African Writers Association of Ghana passed on at the Korle Bu Teaching clinic, Friday after a short sickness.
Prof Akilakpa Sawyerr in the interest of the Odoi and Okai families affirmed the demise of the national symbol in a concise explanation issued soon after his passing.
Prof Okai, 77, is noted for his superb verse recitation and is accepted to be one of the principal genuine verse entertainers to have risen in Africa.
His exhibitions on radio and TV incorporate an acclaimed 1975 appearance at verse global at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London where he imparted the phase to US writers Stanley Kunitz and Robert Lowell, and Nicolas Guillen of Cuba.
Prof Okai was made due by a spouse and five little girls.
